The Cyclocosm blog is a good read and some especially amusing graphic design, for example the Paris-Roubaix bingo card. But there’s also a video podcast which combines an audio recording from the blogger with visual prompts such as photos, screenshots and video footage from races.
Usually the format is “How The Race Was Won”, a post-race analysis of.. yes you guessed it. The latest version dissects Paris-Roubaix with lucid and clear analysis of the race. Starting with the origins of the cobbles and the course there’s then look at the general pattern of the race over the years before covering the 2010 race, complete with tactical analysis and canine capers.
So what to make of it? Well it’s short and snappy, a quick watch. Even if you’ve seen the race you’ll appreciate just how succinct the analysis is, you get a great summary in just a few minutes, plus there’s a sense of humour. It’s good. My only criticism is that you don’t get anything extra, you will not find any inside info and it’s matter of fact.
There are only a few episodes and they are not published on a regular basis but Cosmo writes “I do plan to make more videos going forward“. Good.
