French champ ditches lingerie model

Aurelien Duval

Aurelien Duval wins the 2012 national cyclocross championships in Quelneuc, France.

He can now wear the blue, red and white tricolore jersey of national champion for the next 12 months and I wonder if his joy is increased now that he can ditch the unmistakable jersey of his club, UV Aube? Yes, it features a lingerie model.

The photo is from L’Equipe and they have more images from the race in their online gallery. The Union Vélocipédique Aube is a club from France’s Champagne region with a long history and is today sponsored by Charlott’ Lingerie. Here’s the full design from their website:

The kit is made from lycra and not lace

  1. I was racing a bit in France last year and kept on seeing this jersey. Definitely a nice distraction when you’re in the pain locker and looking for something on which to affix your 1,000 yard stare.

  2. A follow-up, in France a national champion’s jersey, like the rainbow jersey, is called a maillot distinctif, meaning a “distinctive jersey”. This must be the first time a rider wins a less distinctive jersey.

Tomas: click on the second photo, the clothing is for sale but you will have to go via the club, harder if you are out of France.

  3. The Lion King used to have pinup photos on his handlebar stem. Reminds me of the old Sauna Diana bus of the TVM squad. Sure beats the Footon-Servetto kit from a few years back!
