Cycling Podcast Reviews Part XI, Cervélo’s Beyond the Peloton 2010

Beyond The Peloton

I reviewed the excellent 2009 films back in March and now there are some films from 2010 out already. If you’re not familiar with these, you should be. They are a fly-on-the-wall documentary of the Cervélo Test Team.

Or at least they were. Whilst the films were always a great way to showcase the team, this year’s versions seem to layer on the commercials just that bit more. Subscribers to the series via iTunes get infomercials on new products, which may well prove interesting but they have a clear commercial purpose.

It’s the same for the 2010 films, there seem to be less of them so far and they are not grabbing my attention as much. I hope the content from the Giro and Tour proves interesting – it should – but whilst the films are good, the starring roles now are played by the bikes and the brand, with the riders and there stories slipping back a bit.

So certainly worth watching but the 2009 stories seem more interesting and insightful.

  1. Its a shame that they seem to have diluted this years BTP videos, last years really seemed to give the viewer a great insight into the inner team dynamics. With Van Poppel and Co. making appearances, while still advertising there products in a more subtle way.
