cyclingnews.com – an update
I wrote my review of the cyclingnews.com podcast back in February and was quite harsh on them. It’s a big site, backed by a decent sized business and so I set the standard quite high. Given CN staff have access to races and riders, simply chatting about races was too easy, more content was needed:
if they are going to send many reporters to many races then a few audio interviews and insights would be fun.
It feels like someone’s been listening to me. In recent weeks we’ve had audio snippets from riders at the end of the race, often still catching their breath. More recently Daniel Benson caught a lift in the Garmin team car and eavesdropped on the post-race chat between Jonathan Vaughters and Ryder Hesjedal, you can get the audio direct. Now the quality can be bad but hearing this direct only makes it more authentic.
There’s still room to improve but they’ve got this on the right track.

I agree. Getting Richard Moore and others on the show has also helped, and this week's special with Gary Imlach is another good alternative.
Agreed 100% on the Imlach special, that was a super show, with lots of great recollections & anecdotes.
Their tour shows have been good this year too – although they've removed the date info from them, (means they don't download automatically in my RSS reader, or show in the right order). It'll be interesting to see what happens to them – my feeling is that they're gradually getting better.
