The Volta a Catalunya and its clothing sponsor Sumattory are offering readers a chance to win a leader’s jersey from race, signed by the race winner.
Just predict the winner of each day’s stage and you could have a signed race jersey from the World Tour.
The Prize
A signed leader’s jersey from the Volta a Catalunya from Sumattory, the cycle clothing company from the Pyrenees.
The Rules
Just name the winner of each stage left in the race via a comment below. Now that we’ve had a few stages it should be easier to work out who you want to back and who’s off the pace.
You can submit your picks every remaining stage in one go (eg Stage 4, 5, 6 and 7 now) or you can do it day by day, (eg Stage 4 now, then Stage 5 the next day).
Either way you need to get your pick in before midday Euro time for each stage.
The race ends on Sunday and you’ll find stage profiles in Monday’s race preview.
If your pick is in the top 10 then I’ll award 15 points to the winner, 10 for second place, 8 for third and then 7-6-5-4-3-2-1 points down to tenth place. At the end of the race your points will be totalled up and the highest score will get the jersey.
I can’t win the jersey for ethical reasons because I’m supposed to run the competition… but I’ll still try some picks.

Is it too late to change from Valverde to Rodriguez?
Yea, I’d like to change that for Stage 6 also.
A reply would be nice.
You can change your future picks.
All picks have to be in BY MIDDAY each day but I’ll let people’s stage 4 picks stand for today.
Please aim to put your Stage 5 picks in by midday European time.
Slightly confused,
So was my stage 4 pick left as Valverde or changed to JRod.
I’m happy to acecpt my fate if it’s Valverde, but it’s nice to know which end of the game I’m at.
Yes, you have to have Valverde. Otherwise people can keep submitting picks during the stage and then insert the winner’s name five seconds after they cross the line!
All picks have to be made by midday, I was being nice to accept your choice of Valverde after the deadline. Hope this sounds fair.
I love your work and I don’t want to be a hassle and I’d reply to your comment but I can’t for some reason. I’m happy to have my pick stay as Valverde or be switched to JRod but I want to be clear on the events.
I chose Valverde first, then when I heard he crashed I asked if I could switch to JRod well before the final climb but before the cut0off. You said yes I’d have to have Valverde (my original choice), but then you said you’d be nice and grant me Valverde (who I didn’t want). So what was my rider?
Again… You’re the man. Just want to know where I stand. And to save you explaining your decision, just give me a name.
After the cutoff. Idiot!
Stage 4: Bradley Wiggins
Stage 5: Joaquim Rodríguez
Stage 6: Bradley Wiggins
Stage 7: Joaquim Rodríguez
Can i amend my guesses as Valverde has abandoned?
Can I amend my choice as jrod didn’t win. 🙂
Sure, every can amend picks as long as they do this before midday of the stage in question.
Stage 5: Andrea Guardini

I’m collating them into a spreadsheet but it’s an awkward data entry task.
Stage 5: Meersman
