Giro iCal

Giro d'Italia

The Giro starts on Friday Just as there’s a season-long calendar of all the major men’s and women’s races to download, here’s the stage by stage Giro ical for your phone or electronic diary ahead of this Friday’s grande partenza in the Netherlands.

The calendar file proves surprisingly popular for each grand tour. It lists each stage along with the distance and a stellar rating. The Giro awards stars to each stage to indicate the difficulty or importance, from one to five stars for the biggest days.

iCal
An iCal is a calendar file that you can store on your smartphone or electronic diary like Outlook. There are several ways to get this on to your computer or phone. Save the ics / iCal / iCalendar file and you can import it into your electronic diary. One or two clicks and it’s on your iPhone / Outlook etc. Alternatively you can use the Google calendar below, click on the bottom-right corner if you use Google.

  • If you use MacOS/iOS copy the URL… then Calendar.app hit cmd+alt+S (or File>New Calendar Subscription…) whilst in Calendar.app, paste in the link and it will update across all your devices and updates will be processed
  • iPhone/iPad users should tap a finger here and wait for the pop up message and select copy. Then go to settings > mail/contacts/calendars > then “add account” > “other” > “add subscribed calendar” > paste the copied URL into the server field and follow the instructions. Think about turning off the alarm in your calendar settings so you don’t get nocturnal alerts
  • If you use Microsoft Outlook, copy the URL and then go to Tools > Account Settings > Internet Calendars and paste the URL to subscribe. In each case when the calendar is updated with a date change or an event is cancelled your software will upload the new data.
  • If you just want the ical .ics file, here it is: iCal file (right click to save)

Clicked and sync’d in under a minute. Love it. Such a useful addition and still – despite many pleas for a tips jar – 100% free. Is it any wonder the mainstream cycling press don’t bother issuing their own electronic race calendars? I’d wager they all use yours themselves…

Brilliant! Saved. Thanks so much for these.
Will you be posting a Romandie wrap at all?

I wanted to do a Romandie piece but didn’t have enough photos to accompany it, it would have been a dry block of text only.
