Meanwhile in France…

Whilst some debate dropped chains, let’s celebrate Thomas Voeckler’s powerful ride in the stage yesterday as this is actually what great racing is all about.

Having suffered a lot in the race, and coming close to pulling out on the stage to Gap, he found the strength to go in a breakaway in the Pyrenees. He dropped his breakaway companions on the Port de Balès and soloed away for a great win. Sometimes his attacks don’t work, sometimes they do. He’s got panache.

Theres something special about french riders winning stages on Tour de France you can tell it means a hell of a lot to them, I cant help but find myself willing them on. With the french having a good stab this year maybe in the near future we may actually get to see a French GC contender
