I’m going to take a break for a few days on here. If we saw Chris White issue an interesting press release about the Pegasus team on what was Christmas morning in Australia, I certainly won’t be on here for the holidays.

Best wishes to you all and here’s hoping 2011 is a good one for you and your health, and for the sport of pro cycling.

• The Tour Down Under begins on 16 January and even if this isn’t the finest race on the calendar it will be refreshing to be able to review and comment on racing, tactics and riders rather than imploding teams or bungling officials. Whilst it maybe worth shining a light on the backstage things, it will be nice when real racing moves to the fore.
