The clip above is of Italian singer Paolo Belli, supported by the band QBeta, and his song “Faccio Festa” (“I party”) which is the official song of the Giro d’Italia. If you’ve been watching the free live coverage by Italian broadcaster RAI on the internet then you’ll have heard it.
Belli is an Italian singer and TV presenter, the front man of the popular “Dancing with the Stars” show, a celebrity dancing competition that exists in many formats around the world. Ex-Italian champion Mario Cipollini featured in the show. Belli’s first band was called “Bicycle Thieves”.
The song is as simple and fun as it sounds, it’s about partying and dancing. The chorus is:
Faccio tutto tutto
ho fatto, faccio festa!
faccio un giro, vado e torno
faccio festa!
Which roughly works out at as “I do everything, everything, I did it, I’ll party! I’ll do a spin, and I go back, I party!”. It sounds better in Italian, see for yourself.
And just in case you want it, note the song is available as a single on iTunes, just look up “Faccio Festa” and look for Belli and Qbeta.
‘Singer’ is a strong word.
He is also a mad massive cycling fan. The Giro is one big semi organised Party for fans and macho sprinters. Best race in the World! And Contador gets more stressed by the day……
Think I’ll stick with Ricky Martin’s World Cup song instead.
Gotta have this on my walkman for my next training ride it’s all about the energy!!!!!!!
Thanks for the 411 – I have been looking for the lyrics so I can sing to myself while riding.
